Wedding Invitation Wording for Adult Only Events

We love children...we have three of them but sometimes couples just want to enjoy the company of their friends and family without worrying about kids.

We do our very best to help accommodate your younger guests by providing games on the lawn and having small tubs of toys and activity books but if you have decided to limit children at your wedding, here are some ways you can share that information with your guests.

If you are limiting the number of children at your event, you can specifically list the people in the family who are invited which will help make your wishes clear.  You may also include one of the following phrases on the invitation.

  • Although we love your children, we ask that you make arrangements for them to stay home so you can enjoy the day with us.

  • We love your children but we are only able to accommodate children in the wedding party.

  • Our wedding is for adults only and we are looking forward to spending time with you. We will catch up with the kids another time.

  • We respectfully request your attendance but ask that you make other arrangements for your children.

  • We kindly request no children under 16 at the reception.

  • We respectfully request that no children under 18 attend the reception.

  • Children are welcome to attend the ceremony, however, we ask that you make other arrangements for the reception as it is an adult only event.

  • Please respect our wishes for a child free wedding. We look forward to spending time with you!

  • Your children are very special to us but we will only have accommodations for a few children of close family members. Thanks so much for understanding.
